People ask me sometimes how I am. ”Busy!” I usually reply, and that’s generally true. But even I am a little shocked every time I look at my Google calendar this week; this doesn’t even represent my paid, working hours. While I don’t have to necessarily be present at all of the things listed on this calendar, I do have to be mindful of them.
So I guess this post is for everyone who thinks that ‘busy’ is my default response, not my honest situation. This has been one of the busiest years of my life, and while it’s been good, and I’ve been steadily managing to enjoy this year, I haven’t had a pause for months. If I don’t carve spaces for myself to rest, I don’t get any. This snapshot of my calendar doesn’t represent a normal week, but if you’re wondering why we haven’t had coffee in a while, or why you don’t see me around like you used to, it might go a little way towards explaining where I’m at.
