I work at the Canadian Canoe Museum, and every year we raffle off a couple of canoes as a fundraiser. This year, our General Manager John Summers has squeezed time out of his already busy schedule to build this Fiddlehead - it’s a canoe designed for one, paddled with a double-bladed paddle. This is a photo I took of the boat in progress; since then, some of the decks have gone on. If you drop by the museum, you can take a look - it’s in the Living Traditions workshop.
I’m not a canoeist or anything, but I think it’s a beaut.
The view from the bow of John’s Old Town sailing canoe - we didn’t have the sails up, because it was too windy.
On the Indian River, Keene, Ontario.
The canoeists and kayakers ahead of us are Canadian Canoe Museum volunteers, trying out some of the museum’s vintage handling craft at our Summer Paddle Party. What a great day!
